Get answers to common questions about Microdermabrasion.
Microdermabrasion is generally safe for most skin types and tones, but we evaluate sensitive or reactive skin first. Active acne, rosacea, or broken skin may need alternative approaches. Your technician will assess and recommend a customized plan or patch test.
A typical Microdermabrasion appointment lasts about 30 to 45 minutes, while more comprehensive facials may take up to 60 minutes. This includes cleansing, the treatment, calming serums, and SPF application before you leave.
Many clients notice smoother, brighter skin after a single Microdermabrasion session, but optimal improvement usually requires a series. We typically recommend four to six treatments spaced two to four weeks apart for lasting results.
Most people experience a light scratching or vibrating sensation during Microdermabrasion, plus mild warmth. It’s generally comfortable and quick; any redness should subside within hours. Numbing is rarely necessary, but we can accommodate highly sensitive clients.
Side effects are usually mild and temporary after Microdermabrasion — slight redness, sensitivity, and light flaking possible. These effects typically resolve within hours to a couple of days. Follow post-care: sunscreen, gentle cleansers, and avoid active acids for at least 48 hours.
Microdermabrasion can improve mild acne scarring, surface hyperpigmentation, and fine lines by promoting cell turnover. Deeper scars or pigmentation may need stronger modalities like chemical peels or lasers. Your specialist will create a treatment plan and recommend the appropriate number of sessions.
